Dorothy Terese McNeil O'Gallagher
"She was our teacher and role model on how to live a life with purpose, meaning and courage."
Mrs. Terry O’Gallagher passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the age of 80 at St-Brigid’s Home in Quebec City. She was the daughter of the late Major John T.E. McNeil and the late Dorothy (Dot) Schmeisser. Predeceased by her cherished husband, Brendan, Terry leaves to mourn her loving children and their spouses: Bryan (Johanne Marceau), Catherine (Guy Cantin), Rhonda (Yvon Rouleau) and Ian (Manon Kirouac) as well as her beloved grandchildren, Julia, Elizabeth, Laura, Emma and Gabriel. Her brothers and sisters: Sandra (Robert Jackson), Michaele (Earl Goodeve), Patrick (Catherine Palmer), the late Donna Marie (the late J. Alphonsus Kane), the late Jacquelyn (the late Paul Kelly), and the late John (Kelly Code-McNeil); her brothers and sisters-in-law: Ellen Clare (Kenneth Wood), the late Marianna, the late John (Nicole Paquette), the late Patrick (Liliane Blanchard), the late Neil and her sister-in-law Shirley Miller. Also left to mourn are Terry’s many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
One of the most important measures of how someone’s life has been lived is the extent to which they have touched others. By this measure, and thanks to Terry’s chosen career as a dedicated teacher, we can say her life was an important one. Terry, was to us, her four children, our first and most important teacher. She was a role model on how to live a life with purpose, meaning and courage. We are deeply grateful to have been loved and guided by her and our father, Brendan.
Special thanks to all the physicians and staff on the 3rd floor of St-Brigid’s Home for their care and support to Terry these past six months as well as to the Jeffery-Hale Community Partners Day Centre and Day Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry’s memory to the Saint-Brigid’s Home Foundation (www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/saint-brigids-home-foundation) would be appreciated.
