Margaret Stella (Queenie) english Cazes (Suess)

Died peacefully at St-Sacrement Hospital, Quebec City, on February 10, 2009, in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Elmer Leonard (1988). Beloved mother to Robert (Joyce McCartney) and Madelyn Webb (Mark Lewis). Cherished grandmother to Michael and Joanna. Daughter of Emily Winstanley and George Suess. Loving sister to Kathleen (Nellie), Lillian, Mabel, Charles, and the late George, Madeline, Jack and Clifford.

Queenie graduated from Commissioner’s High (Quebec High School) in 1937 and worked at the Bank of Montreal. Excelling at sports, Queenie was pitcher for the softball team, Les Madelons, in the 1940’s. She was married in 1943 at St-Matthew’s Church, where she continued to be a member, as well as warden, for many years. During this time she led the G.A. Guides (7th Quebec) and held many volunteer positions, including Director at Quebec Lodge Camp. Her career at Church Society (Diocese of Quebec) began in the early sixties. She served under several bishops of Quebec and rose to Assistant Treasurer of Church Society. She was an avid bridge player and member of the Plus 50 at St-Michael’s Church. A wife, mother, community leader, career woman and strong in her faith, she lived life to the fullest. She will be sadly missed.

A service will be held on Tuesday, February 17th, at 11 a.m. at St-Michael’s Church, 1800 St-Louis Road, Sillery, followed by a reception.
