Passed away in his seventy-eight year surrounded by his loving family on November 10th, 2008 at his home in Sainte-Foy.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Louise (Daoust), his sister Patricia (Les Brown), his devoted children Anne, Bryn (Linda Crawford) and Jean (Stephanie Kaiser), his much-adored grandchildren Sarah, Christopher and Emily as well as his cherished sister- and brother-in-laws, and numerous friends and Old Blues.

Born in Tondu, Wales, and after attending Christ’s Hospital in England, Robert emmigrated to Canada and married Louise in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue in 1949. He received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of New Brunswick in 1955 and held academic positions with the University of London in Jamaica and Université Laval in Québec. He was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus in 2003 and will be always remembered as a warm and talented man of tremendous integrity who was as passionate about teaching and research as he was about writing, photography, music and, above all, his family and friends.

The family will receive condolences on Friday, November 14th from 7:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Centre funeraire Lépine-Cloutier, 975 av. Marguerite-Bourgeois in Québec, and at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15th at the Église Saint-Louis-de-France, 1576 route de l’Église in Sainte-Foy, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
