Violet Kirkwood (born Sharp)

1922-2020

Informations

Violet (Vi) Kirkwood, nee Sharp, 97 years, our beautiful mother, grand and great-grandmother, left us peacefully on Monday, June 15. Born to Scottish immigrants in her beloved Quebec City, 1923, the young redhead met and married Gilbert Kirkwood (1921-1997). Vi and Gib raised their family in Sillery, Quebec.

Her children, Heather (Mal Chisholm) Arisaig, NS, Gary Kirkwood (Joan Ward) Burlington, ON, Elizabeth (Mike Saville) Burlington, ON and Katherine (Brian Dinan) La Tuque, PQ, her 13 grand and 21 great grandchildren remain grateful for her enduring love, Scottish wisdom, and the warm hearth and home she created.

A devout Presbyterian, Vi served as an Elder of St. Andrews, Quebec. Our heartfelt thanks to her special caregiver, Lise Rousseau, and the wonderful staff at St. Brigid’s Home.

A celebration of her life will be held in Quebec within the year.

Dear Heather, my sincere condolences go out to you and all the family. You may not remember me but I haven’t forgotten you. We were together in St Stephen’s school such a long time ago. I recognized your mother right away such a beautiful person. I have a feeling she lived a wonderful life and is at peace now. You’re in my thoughts, take care!

While visiting my Mother at St Brigid s I met Miss Violet. She was a very special lady. I am sure she will be remembered fondly.
