Sheila Ann Leger (born Kennedy)

1929-2020

Informations

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Sheila Ann Kennedy with family at her bedside at Saint Brigid's Home on May 26, 2020, at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband Adrian Leger, her father Robert Kennedy, her mother Edith Smith and her daughter Susan. Sheila was a graduate of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and a devoted obstetrics nurse at the Jeffrey Hale Hospital for many years. She became an accomplished artist and will forever be remembered as a kind, generous and thoughtful person.

Given the circumstances of the pandemic, a private funeral will be held at Saint Patrick’s Church on September 19, 2020.

She will be dearly missed by her children: Kathryn, the late Susan, Valerie (François Lefebvre), Tony (Sandy Jennekens), Barbara (Jean Larocque), Robert (Nathalie Touzel) and Richard (Piatsi Mangiuk); her grandchildren (who lovingly called her Grammie): Melanie (Bernard Leung), Sarah (Charles Desjardins), Natalie, Isabelle (Grégoire Marois), Janine (Patrick Scott), Olivier (Daphnée Nadeau-Poulin), Colin, Elizabeth and Simon; her great-grandchildren: Oscar, Roxanne, Sophie, Frédéric and Thomas; Other close family are her brother and sisters: the late Robert, the late Betty and the late Mavis (the late Guy Leclerc); her brothers and sisters-in-law: the late Carmela (the late Jack Langlois), the late Anthony (the late Dottie), Joan (the late Joseph Hazel) and Douglas (Beverly), her niece Terry and many other family members and friends.

The family would like to sincerely thank all the devoted staff at Saint Brigid’s Home, particularly Dr. Marie Martineau, Hélène Bédard and the wonderful team on the second floor for your compassion and the great care provided, the “Maries” (Marie-France, Marie-Christine, Marie-Josée, Marie-Claude), Rosalie, William, Johanne Lachance for her companionship, and the many volunteers who brought joy and a smile to our mother during the almost four years she lived at Saint Brigid’s. We are greatly appreciative.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jeffery Hale – Saint Brigid’s Friends’ Foundation, 2000-1270, Chemin Sainte-Foy, Quebec (QC), G1S 2M4, phone: 1 888 984-5333, https://amisdujhsb.ca/en/donate/.

Amicalement, Johanne Lachance, accompagnatrice

It is with great sadness the I read of your mother’s death. As a volunteer at St. Brigid’s home I was always delighted to see and spend time with your Mum. I will remember the twinkle in her eye, her warmth as a person, her kisses after the joy of a dance, her insistence on saying thank you to the musicians after their performances. All signs of a kind, generous and loving person. Although she was not able to speak, her warm smile and sparkling eyes said it all! I extend my sympathies to all the family. I will remember her with great fondness.
